Highlights of the 2022/23 Sailing Programme
Four full junior LTScourses, 40 kids in total
Approximately 40 Optimists, 8 Skiffs, 4 Starlings, 4 Lasers, and two 420s sailing.
5 Optimist sailors selected as NZreps (World Champs, Asian Champs, and Development teams).
Strong youth sailors with two 420 crews going to World Champs, and winning the Starling match racing championship for the second year running.
Increasing progression of youth sailors into Laser fleet.
Strong school teams at both NBHS and NGHS.
Open Skiffs growing with strong numbers, and integrating with the Optis.
Women’s Elliot6 sailing has continued growth with approximately 20 women showing up every week.
Yachting New Zealand/NSC Kokokaha School Programme. Offering a sailing experience to the wider community with six schools, resulting in 150 kids introduced to yachting through the programme.
